LIKE TO FEEL A BITE
Best Lake in Texas
I’ve lived in Texas since 1969. Nowadays, I live in Royal Oaks, a lakefront community in Yantis, right on the shores of the best lake in Texas––Lake Fort.
Known as the bass capital of northeast Texas, Lake Fork Reservoir is one of the 10 largest lakes in Texas, and currently holds records for 34 out of the top 50 large-mouth bass caught in the state. While angling inshore for BIG bass is what really makes my day, I do enjoy fishing for ALL species. I just like to feel a bite.
Lake Fort Guide Service
Fishing is in my blood. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, if there was a tournament around, I was in it. I’m not sure if it was luck or skill, but I managed to win four boats in that time. In 2008, I made it official and launched Johnny Guice’s Lake Fort Guide Service.
I mainly fish inshore, because there are so many great lakes nearby. Along with guided trips to Lake Fork after large-mouth bass, I also offer trips to Monticello, Welsh and Lake Tawakoni for stripers, hybrids and sand bass (white bass).
First and foremost, I want my clients to have a fantastic day on the water aboard my Ranger 2310 Center Console in God’s great outdoors. Second, I want them to learn the latest techniques and what lures are best for which fish so they leave with info they can use––as well as the fish they caught.
In My Leisure Time
My wife, Valerie, and I have been married since 1973. We have three children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. When I’m not teaching others how to catch big fish, I like to hunt and spend time with my family.
RM Media Connection
I joined Texas Insider Fishing Report in March 2018, during the second season. I am one of six guides throughout Texas who provides live regional fishing reports for each show. My region––Upper Fresh––is at the very top of the state. Making sure my reports are of value to the anglers in my region so they can improve their catch keeps me on top of my game. Thanks, Rick, for adding me to your team.
